Deuteronomy 11:22 – Cleave to Him

19 Av 5783 – 6 August 2023

“…cleave to Him”.

There are many ways to attach ourselves to the Creator. Rashi teaches that one way is by connecting ourselves to Torah scholars.

Our sages teach that something which is attached to that which is (ritually) pure has the status of being pure (Baba Kama 92b).

The students of the Yid HaKadosh asked how is it possible that one who exerted no effort, but simply attached himself to another who is pure, can be considered to have a level of purity similar to one who strove and labored for years to become pure and holy?

The Yid HaKadosh answered that it is more difficult to be truly attached to the pure than being pure!
