EXODUS 3:5 – HOLY GROUND

At the burning bush, Hashem said to Moshe, “…take your shoes (na’alecha) off your feet (rag’lecha), because the place where you are standing is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5)

The word for ‘your shoes’ in Hebrew can also mean ‘your lock’, and the Hebrew word for ‘your feet’ can also mean ‘your habits’.

How do we achieve holiness? The Baal Shem Tov explained that we can do this by unlocking and freeing ourselves from living habitually and seeking to live mindfully.
