LEVITICUS 12:2 – AFTER THE BEGINNING

“…When a woman conceives and gives birth to a boy…” (Leviticus 12:2)

In the Torah portion Tazriah, the word in the above verse translated as ‘conceives’. This theme coincides with the special Shabbat we will have this week, which is also the beginning of the month of Nissan, the 1st month in the Biblical calendar.

Nissan is related to the word ‘nes’ – miracle, and the birth of a child is an incredible miracle.

The first day of the first month – the beginning of, the birth of the upcoming year! Our sages teach that everything goes after the beginning. Like the journey of a rocket, its’ ultimate destination all depends on being properly aligned at the launch pad.

We will be launched into a new year – in a way we are being birthed! If we manage to align ourselves properly at this critical moment, our year will follow suit. Let’s all aim high and aim straight!
