I fully believe that the Messiah will definitely come and though he may also be a long time off I expect his coming every day.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Maimonides codified belief in the Moshiach as one of the essential principles of Jewish faith. At the beginning of his Mishne Torah, he writes that \u201cone who does not believe in him, or who does not await his coming, denies not only the prophets but also the&nbsp;Torah&nbsp;and Moses our Teacher.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also see this belief and expectation in the Amida ( The Standing Prayer) also called the Shemoneh Esrei (the 18th prayer). It is written there:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u05d0\u05b6\u05ea <strong>\u05e6\u05b6\u05de\u05b7\u05d7<\/strong> \u05d3\u05b8\u05bc\u05d5\u05b4\u05d3 \u05e2\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05d3\u05b0\u05bc\u05da\u05b8 \u05de\u05b0\u05d4\u05b5\u05e8\u05b8\u05d4 \u05ea\u05b7\u05e6\u05b0\u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7. \u05d5\u05b0\u05e7\u05b7\u05e8\u05b0\u05e0\u05d5 \u05ea\u05b8\u05bc\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05dd \u05d1\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05ea\u05b6\u05da\u05b8. \u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05ea\u05b0\u05da\u05b8 \u05e7\u05b4\u05d5\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc \u05db\u05b8\u05bc\u05dc \u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05d5\u05dd. \u05d1\u05b8\u05bc\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05da\u05b0 \u05d0\u05b7\u05ea\u05b8\u05bc\u05d4 \u05d4&#8217;, \u05de\u05b7\u05e6\u05b0\u05de\u05b4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7 \u05e7\u05b6\u05e8\u05b6\u05df \u05d9\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et<strong> tze-mach <\/strong>Da-vid&nbsp;av-d&#8217;cha m&#8217;hei-rah tatz-mi-ach, v&#8217;kar-no ta-rum bi-shu-a-te-cha, ki li-shu-a-t&#8217;cha ki-vi-nu kol ha-yom. Ba-ruch a-tah A-do-nai, matz-mi-ach ke-ren y&#8217;shu-ah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die <strong>sprout<\/strong> of David, Your servant, speedily cause to flourish and exalt his power with Your deliverance, for Your deliverance we hope all day, and watch for Your deliverance. Blessed are You Hashem, Who causes to sprout the power of salvation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Why doesn&#8217;t the text &#8221; simply\u201d speaks of the Messiah, why does the text call him &#8220;sprout&#8221; in this verse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also see the word <strong><em>Tsemach<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; Sprout &#8211; in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Jeremiah.23.5?vhe=Tanach_with_Ta%27amei_Hamikra&amp;lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\">Jeremiah 23:5<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u05d4\u05b4\u05e0\u05b5\u05bc\u05a8\u05d4 \u05d9\u05b8\u05de\u05b4\u05a4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05b8\u05bc\u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd\u0599 \u05e0\u05b0\u05d0\u05bb\u05dd\u05be\u05d4&#8217; \u05d5\u05b7\u05d4\u05b2\u05e7\u05b4\u05de\u05b9\u05ea\u05b4\u05a5\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d3\u05b8\u05d5\u05b4\u0596\u05d3 <strong>\u05e6\u05b6\u05a3\u05de\u05b7\u05d7<\/strong> \u05e6\u05b7\u05d3\u05b4\u05bc\u0591\u05d9\u05e7 \u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b8\u05a4\u05dc\u05b7\u05da\u05b0 \u05de\u05b6\u0599\u05dc\u05b6\u05da\u05b0\u0599 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05c2\u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u0594\u05d9\u05dc \u05d5\u05b0\u05e2\u05b8\u05e9\u05b8\u05c2\u059b\u05d4 \u05de\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05e4\u05b8\u05bc\u05a5\u05d8 \u05d5\u05bc\u05e6\u05b0\u05d3\u05b8\u05e7\u05b8\u0596\u05d4 \u05d1\u05b8\u05bc\u05d0\u05b8\u05bd\u05e8\u05b6\u05e5\u05c3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See, a time is coming\u2014declares G-d\u2014when I will raise up a true branch of David\u2019s line. He shall reign as king and shall prosper, and he shall do what is just and right in the land.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The verse in Jeremiah is clearly speaking about the Messiah. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Jeremiah.23.5?vhe=Tanach_with_Ta%27amei_Hamikra&amp;lang=bi&amp;with=Commentary&amp;lang2=en\">Metzudat David<\/a> is teaching us that the <strong>Sprout<\/strong> will reign successfully as king over the land of Israel and be successfully and do justice and righteousness.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sprout is the sprouting of seedlings. A beautiful text in which these two words are both used is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Isaiah.61.11?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\">Isaiah 61:11<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05a4\u05d9 \u05db\u05b8\u05d0\u05b8\u0599\u05e8\u05b6\u05e5\u0599 \u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e6\u05b4\u05a3\u05d9\u05d0 \u05e6\u05b4\u05de\u05b0\u05d7\u05b8\u0594\u05d4\u05bc \u05d5\u05bc\u05db\u05b0\u05d2\u05b7\u05e0\u05b8\u05bc\u0596\u05d4 <strong>\u05d6\u05b5\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b6\u05a3\u05d9\u05d4\u05b8<\/strong> <strong>\u05ea\u05b7\u05e6\u05b0\u05de\u05b4\u0591\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For as the earth sends forth its growth, and as a garden sprouts its seedlings\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In the word \u05d6<strong>\u05b5\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b6\u05a3\u05d9\u05d4\u05b8<\/strong> we see <strong>\u05d6\u05e8\u05e2<\/strong>. We see these three root letters in the word &nbsp;\u05ea\u05b7\u05d6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b4\u0594\u05d9\u05e2\u05b7which is the name of a Parsha:&nbsp; Parshat Tazria&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Parsha deals largely with the condition of ritual uncleanness and people with the disease tzara&#8217;ath. A disease in which the walls of a <strong>house<\/strong>, a person&#8217;s <strong>clothes,<\/strong> or the person <strong>himself<\/strong> can develop a white rash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The succeeding parsha is Parshat Metzorah (the two parshot are often read together). This Parsha also elaborates on tzara&#8217;ath and the cleansing process for the person who has the illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That brings us to the person with tzara&#8217;ath, called Metzorah, which brings us to the Messiah, also called Metzorah. This can be learned from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Isaiah.53.4?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\">Isaiah 53:4.<\/a> and the commentary about this verse in the Talmud <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Sanhedrin.98b.14?lang=en\">Sanhedrin 98b<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u05d0\u05b8\u05db\u05b5\u05a4\u05df \u05d7\u05b3\u05dc\u05b8\u05d9\u05b5\u0599\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc\u0599 \u05d4\u05a3\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05e0\u05b8\u05e9\u05b8\u05c2\u0594\u05d0 \u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b7\u05db\u05b0\u05d0\u05b9\u05d1\u05b5\u0596\u05d9\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc \u05e1\u05b0\u05d1\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u0591\u05dd \u05d5\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05e0\u05b7\u05a3\u05d7\u05b0\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc \u05d7\u05b2\u05e9\u05b7\u05c1\u05d1\u05b0\u05e0\u05bb\u0594\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc \u05e0\u05b8\u05d2\u059b\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b7 \u05de\u05bb\u05db\u05b5\u05bc\u05a5\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b1-\u05dc\u05b9\u05e7\u05d9\u05dd \u05d5\u05bc\u05de\u05b0\u05e2\u05bb\u05e0\u05b6\u05bc\u05bd\u05d4\u05c3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet it was our sickness that he was bearing,<br>Our suffering that he endured.<br>We accounted him plagued,<br>Smitten and afflicted by G-d;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>We know from the process of tzara&#8217;ath that it was a gradual process. First the house, then the clothes then the person. It was a process in which man was given every opportunity to improve himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a sprout, you see exactly the same thing, a slow development process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see in (the continuation of) Isaiah 61:11 that it says<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u05db\u05df | \u05d0\u05b2-\u05d3\u05b9\u05e0\u05b8\u05a3\u05d9 \u05d4&#8217; \u05d9\u05b7\u05e6\u05b0\u05de\u05b4\u05a4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7 \u05e6\u05b0\u05d3\u05b8\u05e7\u05b8\u05d4\u0599 \u05d5\u05bc\u05ea\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05dc\u05b8\u05bc\u0594\u05d4 \u05e0\u05b6\u0596\u05d2\u05b6\u05d3 \u05db\u05c7\u05bc\u05dc\u05be\u05d4\u05b7\u05d2\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05d9\u05b4\u05bd\u05dd\u05c3 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u2026 so will G-d cause righteousness and praise to sprout in the presence of all the nations.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sefaria.org\/Isaiah.61.11?lang=bi&amp;with=all&amp;lang2=en\">Isaiah 61:11<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>King Messiah will bring justice, peace, and knowledge of G-d. But all this will not happen overnight as some people think. It does not come out of the blue. It is a gradual process.
