En primer lugar, la Tor\u00e1 declara: \u201cCuando vendas algo a uno de tu pueblo o compres algo de uno de tu pueblo, nadie debe afligir a su hermano\u201d. (1) Unos vers\u00edculos m\u00e1s adelante, la Tor\u00e1 parece repetirse: \u201cNo aflijas a tu pueblo y teme a tu Dios, porque yo soy HaShem, tu Dios\u201d. (2) La Guemar\u00e1 explica que hay dos tipos diferentes de&nbsp;<em>Onaah&nbsp;<\/em>(aflicci\u00f3n); el primer verso se refiere a&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon&nbsp;<\/em>\u2013 aflicci\u00f3n relacionada con el dinero.(3) La segunda se relaciona con&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 herir a alguien con palabras.(4) En general, los rabinos no comparan dos mitzvot espec\u00edficas y afirman que una es mayor que la otra; sin embargo, en este caso comparan las dos formas de aflicci\u00f3n. Inicialmente, uno pensar\u00eda que&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon<\/em>&nbsp;es m\u00e1s grave que&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim&nbsp;<\/em>porque cuando una persona es herida verbalmente no pierde ning\u00fan objeto tangible, sin embargo cuando es afligida econ\u00f3micamente entonces sufre una p\u00e9rdida real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, sorprendentemente, la Guemar\u00e1 dice que&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim<\/em>&nbsp;se considera un pecado mayor que&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon<\/em>&nbsp;por tres razones diferentes. En primer lugar, con respecto a&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim<\/em>&nbsp;El vers\u00edculo dice: \u201dY debes temer a tu Dios\u201d, pero omite esto cuando habla de&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon<\/em>. El Maharsha explica que es m\u00e1s probable que las personas se den cuenta cuando alguien est\u00e1 tratando de cometer un delito.&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon<\/em>&nbsp;Pero es mucho m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil ocultar las verdaderas intenciones de da\u00f1ar verbalmente a otros. Muestra falta de temor a Dios, porque no le preocupa que Dios est\u00e9 totalmente al tanto de sus acciones, pero tampoco le preocupa lo que piensen los dem\u00e1s. Quien da\u00f1a a otros de forma oculta demuestra que teme m\u00e1s a las personas que a Dios; solo le preocupa que no lo consideren cruel, pero no le preocupa que Dios conozca sus verdaderas intenciones. Se le considera inferior a quien da\u00f1a econ\u00f3micamente porque demuestra mayor preocupaci\u00f3n por la opini\u00f3n ajena que por Dios.(5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En segundo lugar, la Guemar\u00e1 dice que&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon<\/em>&nbsp;simplemente da\u00f1a la propiedad de las personas, mientras que&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim&nbsp;<\/em>Es peor porque da\u00f1a la esencia misma de alguien. Esto se refiere particularmente al bienestar emocional de una persona: el da\u00f1o que una palabra descuidada le causa puede penetrar hasta su esencia misma. Un ejemplo aterrador lo relata Rav Dov Brezak: relata c\u00f3mo un hombre respetado de unos cuarenta a\u00f1os necesit\u00f3 terapia debido a una experiencia traum\u00e1tica en su infancia. En una ocasi\u00f3n, su madre lo llam\u00f3...\u2018<em>tamei<\/em>\u2018&#039; (impuro). Esa simple etiqueta lo lastim\u00f3 tan profundamente que lo acompa\u00f1\u00f3 el resto de su vida. Esto demuestra claramente que las palabras hirientes pueden causar un da\u00f1o incalculable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Guemar\u00e1 contin\u00faa con un tercer aspecto en el que&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim&nbsp;<\/em>es peor que&nbsp;<em>onaat mammon&nbsp;<\/em>Si una persona le roba dinero a su pr\u00f3jimo con enga\u00f1os, puede reparar el da\u00f1o simplemente devolvi\u00e9ndole lo que tom\u00f3 injustamente. Sin embargo, cuando uno da\u00f1a a alguien con palabras, ninguna disculpa puede cambiar el pasado; esas palabras nunca pueden retractarse. Es com\u00fan en las relaciones, especialmente en el matrimonio, que unas pocas palabras insensibles causen un da\u00f1o duradero y ese da\u00f1o nunca pueda sanar por completo porque esas palabras nunca pueden retractarse por completo. Quiz\u00e1s un corolario de este aspecto de la gravedad de&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim<\/em>&nbsp;es que una vez que se dicen palabras da\u00f1inas, pueden tener r\u00e1pidamente un &quot;efecto domin\u00f3&quot; por el cual las consecuencias de esas pocas palabras pueden ser de tan largo alcance que es imposible deshacer el da\u00f1o que esas palabras han causado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Est\u00e1 muy claro en la Guemar\u00e1 cu\u00e1n grave es el pecado de&nbsp;<em>onaat devarim<\/em>&nbsp;Puede ser, adem\u00e1s, es una mitzv\u00e1 muy dif\u00edcil de observar correctamente: estamos constantemente enfrascados en conversaciones con otras personas y es muy f\u00e1cil herir sus sentimientos con una declaraci\u00f3n desconsiderada. Adem\u00e1s, como hablamos tanto, podemos olvidar lo grave que es el pecado de herir los sentimientos de los dem\u00e1s. El Jaz\u00f3n Ish una vez presenci\u00f3 a un hombre reprender duramente a su hijo peque\u00f1o por mover algo en Shabat que pudo haber sido...&nbsp;<em>muktza&nbsp;<\/em>(un objeto que est\u00e1 prohibido mover en Shabat). El Jaz\u00f3n Ish le dijo al hombre que su hijo&nbsp;<strong>puede&nbsp;<\/strong>haber transgredido una Mitzv\u00e1 Rab\u00ednica, pero que el padre hab\u00eda&nbsp;<strong>definitivamente&nbsp;<\/strong>transgredi\u00f3 la mitzv\u00e1 de la Tor\u00e1 de no decir palabras hirientes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Una t\u00e9cnica para ser m\u00e1s cuidadosos con esta mitzv\u00e1 es desarrollar la actitud de que debemos ser tan cuidadosos con ella como con todas las dem\u00e1s mitzvot, como la kashrut: nunca comer\u00edamos algo sin estar seguros de que est\u00e1 permitido.
