{"id":17138,"date":"2024-07-18T01:31:11","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T00:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sukkatshalom-bneinoach.com\/?p=17138"},"modified":"2024-07-18T01:31:11","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T00:31:11","slug":"moses-and-the-rock-california-dreaming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sukkatshalom-bneinoach.com\/fr\/moses-and-the-rock-california-dreaming\/","title":{"rendered":"MO\u00cfSE ET LE ROCHER : R\u00eave californien"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En juin 1980, apr\u00e8s une ann\u00e9e d&#039;\u00e9tudes \u00e0 Machon Gruss \u00e0 J\u00e9rusalem, je suis rentr\u00e9 aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Quelques jours apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9fait mes valises, je me suis envol\u00e9 pour Venice, en Californie, afin de participer \u00e0 l&#039;organisation d&#039;un Shabbaton pour Flame, une organisation d&#039;aide aux \u00e9tudiants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nous passions Shabbat dans une synagogue tr\u00e8s originale dont l&#039;entr\u00e9e donnait directement sur la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre plage de Venice. Plusieurs d&#039;entre nous ont dormi dans la synagogue cette nuit-l\u00e0, sur ses vieux bancs en bois.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce Shabbat-l\u00e0 \u00e9tait celui de la Paracha Chukat, et je me suis allong\u00e9 pour essayer de m&#039;endormir, me demandant de quoi je pourrais parler le lendemain. Je pensais \u00e0 l&#039;histoire de Mo\u00efse frappant le rocher pour faire jaillir de l&#039;eau pour le peuple assoiff\u00e9 et \u00e9tant s\u00e9v\u00e8rement puni par Dieu pour son acte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rachi expliqua que Mo\u00efse avait re\u00e7u l&#039;ordre de parler au rocher et qu&#039;il fut puni pour avoir d\u00e9sob\u00e9i aux instructions de Dieu et l&#039;avoir frapp\u00e9. Cet \u00e9chec g\u00e2cha une occasion de sanctifier le Nom de Dieu. Le peuple aurait pu penser\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Si un rocher, qui ne parle ni n&#039;entend, et qui n&#039;a pas besoin d&#039;\u00eatre soutenu, accomplit les paroles de Dieu, alors nous devons certainement faire de m\u00eame\u00a0\u201d (Rachi sur Nombres 20:11-12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ramban conteste cette interpr\u00e9tation et souligne que, puisque Dieu avait ordonn\u00e9 \u00e0 Mo\u00efse de prendre son b\u00e2ton, il y avait implicitement l&#039;instruction de frapper le rocher avec celui-ci. Il compare cet \u00e9pisode de l&#039;eau jaillissant du rocher aux plaies d&#039;\u00c9gypte et affirme que, chaque fois que Mo\u00efse prenait son b\u00e2ton \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, c&#039;\u00e9tait pour frapper le rocher. (Voir l&#039;analyse approfondie de Ramban sur ce passage dans ses notes sur Nombres 20:1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le sommeil finit par m&#039;emporter, mais l&#039;histoire continua de m&#039;obs\u00e9der pendant mon r\u00eave. (Je pr\u00e9cise que c&#039;est la seule fois que cela m&#039;est arriv\u00e9.) \u00c9tait-il vrai que Mo\u00efse frappait toujours avec son b\u00e2ton en \u00c9gypte\u00a0? J&#039;ai constat\u00e9 que ce n&#039;\u00e9tait pas le cas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mo\u00efse utilisa le b\u00e2ton \u00e0 trois reprises pour frapper quelque chose, et \u00e0 trois autres reprises, il le tint simplement \u00e0 la main. Aaron jeta le b\u00e2ton \u00e0 terre, le transformant en serpent (Exode 7:10). Plus tard, il frappa le Nil avec le b\u00e2ton, provoquant la premi\u00e8re plaie, le sang (7:20), puis il frappa la terre avec le b\u00e2ton, engendrant les poux lors de la troisi\u00e8me plaie (8:13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour provoquer la plaie des grenouilles, Aaron \u00e9tendit simplement son b\u00e2ton au-dessus des eaux d&#039;\u00c9gypte (7:1-2). De m\u00eame, pour la plaie de la gr\u00eale, Mo\u00efse \u00e9tendit son b\u00e2ton vers le ciel (9:22-23), et pour faire venir la plaie des sauterelles, il l&#039;\u00e9tendit au-dessus du pays d&#039;\u00c9gypte (9:13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au petit matin, je me suis r\u00e9veill\u00e9 avec les jambes raides en me levant du banc en bois, mais j&#039;\u00e9tais impatient de v\u00e9rifier la v\u00e9racit\u00e9 de mon r\u00eave. Effectivement, le b\u00e2ton de Mo\u00efse ne servait pas toujours \u00e0 frapper. Je suis rest\u00e9 assis un moment \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir aux diff\u00e9rentes histoires et j&#039;ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 qu&#039;il y avait une constante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lorsque le miracle impliquait la mat\u00e9rialisation d&#039;\u00e9l\u00e9ments n&#039;existant pas dans la nature (des b\u00e2tons se transformant en serpents, l&#039;eau en sang, le sable en poux), il ne suffisait pas de tenir le b\u00e2ton\u00a0; il fallait qu&#039;il frappe quelque chose. En revanche, lorsque l&#039;\u00e9l\u00e9ment \u00e0 produire existait d\u00e9j\u00e0 (au moins potentiellement), comme les grenouilles du Nil, les sauterelles ou la gr\u00eale, il suffisait de brandir le b\u00e2ton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je me demandais si cette distinction pouvait expliquer le d\u00e9saccord entre Rachi et Ramban, et si la nature de la roche n&#039;\u00e9tait pas en jeu. Si une r\u00e9serve d&#039;eau se trouvait sous la roche dans le d\u00e9sert, Ramban n&#039;aurait eu aucune raison de la frapper. En revanche, selon Rachi, il pourrait s&#039;agir d&#039;une roche sans eau naturelle, ni en son sein ni en dessous\u00a0; il aurait donc fallu la frapper pour en faire jaillir de l&#039;eau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour rapprocher cette r\u00e9flexion de notre propre exp\u00e9rience, nous pouvons nous interroger sur notre nature spirituelle. Qu&#039;est-ce qui est au c\u0153ur de notre \u00eatre ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rabbenu Bachya Ibn Pakuda, dans l&#039;introduction de son ouvrage classique Chovot Halevavot, nous rappelle que \u201c la sagesse est intrins\u00e8quement li\u00e9e \u00e0 notre nature et \u00e0 notre esprit, telle une eau cach\u00e9e dans les profondeurs de la terre. L&#039;homme dou\u00e9 de compr\u00e9hension la recherchera toujours avec toute la force de ses capacit\u00e9s jusqu&#039;\u00e0 la d\u00e9couvrir, la r\u00e9v\u00e9ler et la faire jaillir de son c\u0153ur, \u00e0 l&#039;image de l&#039;eau enfouie dans les profondeurs de la terre. \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans notre propre cheminement spirituel, il est important de se rappeler que nous sommes, par nature, spirituels \u2013 c\u2019est ce que nous sommes au plus profond de nous-m\u00eames. Le Rav Tzadok HaCohen de Lublin a enseign\u00e9 avec force que non seulement nous devons croire en Dieu, mais aussi croire en nous-m\u00eames.
