L&#039;une des raisons de cette interdiction est leur caract\u00e8re excessif, car elles conf\u00e9reraient \u00e0 la mort un caract\u00e8re d\u00e9finitif, alors qu&#039;en r\u00e9alit\u00e9, nous savons que l&#039;\u00e2me du d\u00e9funt continue d&#039;exister et vit dans l&#039;au-del\u00e0. Les rabbins critiquent \u00e9galement le deuil excessif, m\u00eame lorsqu&#039;il n&#039;implique pas d&#039;actes de deuil interdits \u2013 tels que se scarifier. Le Talmud<sup>1<\/sup>&nbsp;L&#039;histoire raconte celle d&#039;une femme qui avait sept fils, dont l&#039;un \u00e9tait d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9. Elle \u00e9tait profond\u00e9ment boulevers\u00e9e et le pleura longuement. Rav Huna la mit en garde contre un tel chagrin. La femme persista et, peu apr\u00e8s, elle perdit \u00e9galement ses autres fils, ch\u00e2timent pour un deuil excessif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Talmud poursuit la description du processus de deuil. Par \u00e9tapes, l&#039;intensit\u00e9 du deuil diminue. La dur\u00e9e du deuil varie selon le lien de parent\u00e9 avec le d\u00e9funt\u00a0: douze mois pour un parent, un mois seulement pour un enfant, une \u00e9pouse ou un fr\u00e8re\/une s\u0153ur. Rabbi Ozer Alport raconte que, pendant la shiva de son \u00e9pouse, Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik re\u00e7ut la visite de Rabbi Yitzchak Hutner et de Rabbi Pinchas Teitz. La question se posa alors\u00a0: pourquoi la p\u00e9riode de deuil pour la perte, plus naturelle et fr\u00e9quente, d&#039;un parent est-elle plus longue que celle pour la perte, plus brutale et apparemment plus traumatisante, d&#039;un enfant\u00a0? Chaque rabbin apporta un \u00e9clairage diff\u00e9rent sur cette question. Le Dvar Torah de Rabbi Ozer Alport pr\u00e9sente leurs r\u00e9ponses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le rabbin Binyamin Rubin propose une r\u00e9ponse diff\u00e9rente, fond\u00e9e sur le Talmud.<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;Cela nous indique que la mitsva d&#039;honorer ses parents s&#039;applique aussi bien de leur vivant qu&#039;apr\u00e8s leur d\u00e9c\u00e8s. Par cons\u00e9quent, la p\u00e9riode de deuil prolong\u00e9e est une mani\u00e8re d&#039;honorer le parent plus longtemps, ce qui ne s&#039;applique pas aux autres membres de la famille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette r\u00e9ponse nous apprend qu&#039;il existe quelque chose de particuli\u00e8rement sp\u00e9cial dans la relation entre une personne et ses parents.<sup>3<\/sup>.
