\u00c0 la fin du livre de l'Eccl\u00e9siaste (Kohelet), il est \u00e9crit : <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c En r\u00e9sum\u00e9, apr\u00e8s avoir tout entendu : crains Dieu et garde ses commandements, car c\u2019est l\u00e0 le devoir de tout homme. \u201d (Eccl\u00e9siaste 12:13). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le verset qui conclut le livre de l'Eccl\u00e9siaste constitue la conclusion finale et l'essence m\u00eame du parcours philosophique et de la qu\u00eate du roi Salomon, tels que relat\u00e9s dans ce livre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c S\u00f4f davar \u201d (La somme des choses) d\u00e9signe la conclusion finale, l'essentiel, apr\u00e8s avoir examin\u00e9 et pes\u00e9 toutes les possibilit\u00e9s et les vanit\u00e9s du monde (telles que la richesse, la sagesse, les plaisirs et la souffrance). \u00ab Quand tout a \u00e9t\u00e9 entendu \u00bb signifie qu'apr\u00e8s toutes ces recherches, le message le plus clair et le plus simple est qu'il faut \u00e9couter et pr\u00eater attention. Inutile de chercher des philosophies complexes ou des significations cach\u00e9es\u00a0; la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 est fondamentale et accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c Craindre Dieu \u201d renvoie au sentiment int\u00e9rieur et \u00e0 la relation juste avec le Cr\u00e9ateur. Cette \u201c crainte \u201d n'est pas n\u00e9cessairement la terreur, mais l'admiration et le respect \u2013 la reconnaissance de la grandeur infinie de Dieu. Cela conduit \u00e0 l'humilit\u00e9, \u00e0 la prudence dans ses actions et au respect de Sa volont\u00e9. C'est la soumission \u00e9motionnelle. \u201c Et observer Ses commandements \u201d renvoie \u00e0 l'acte concret \u2013 accomplir les lois et les directives donn\u00e9es par Dieu (qu'il s'agisse des 613 mitsvot pour le peuple juif ou des Sept Commandements noahides pour le reste du monde). C'est la manifestation pratique de l'admiration int\u00e9rieure. \u201c Car c'est l\u00e0 tout le devoir de l'homme. \u201d C'est l'\u00e9l\u00e9ment essentiel qui donne un sens \u00e0 l'existence humaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le destin et la raison d'\u00eatre de l'homme dans le monde. Tout ce qu'il entreprend dans la vie \u2013 sagesse, \u00e9tude, travail \u2013 doit en fin de compte converger vers le service de Dieu, par la crainte de Lui et l'observance de Ses commandements. Autrement dit, l'observance des commandements et la crainte de Dieu concernent tous les \u00eatres humains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir examin\u00e9 toutes les voies possibles vers le bonheur, le roi Salomon parvient \u00e0 la conclusion suivante\u00a0: le seul moyen de trouver un sens durable \u00e0 la vie est de se connecter au Cr\u00e9ateur. La grandeur infinie de Dieu d\u00e9passe de loin la compr\u00e9hension humaine, et pourtant Il est le bien supr\u00eame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce verset enseigne qu'il ne faut pas chercher le sens de la vie dans le statut social, la richesse ou les succ\u00e8s \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8res, mais dans l'acte fondamental de reconna\u00eetre le Cr\u00e9ateur, de le v\u00e9n\u00e9rer et d'accomplir les commandements \u00e9thiques et spirituels qu'il a donn\u00e9s \u00e0 toute l'humanit\u00e9 (les sept lois noachides) et au peuple juif (les soixante et treize commandements). C'est l\u00e0 l'essence intrins\u00e8que et \u00e9ternelle de l'existence humaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
