Apr\u00e8s la dixi\u00e8me plaie, au milieu de la nuit, Pharaon convoque Mo\u00efse et Aaron et prononce des paroles qui changent le cours de l\u2019histoire\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201c Levez-vous, sortez du milieu de mon peuple, vous et les Isra\u00e9lites. Allez, servez le Seigneur, comme vous l\u2019avez dit. \u201d<\/strong><br>\u2014 <em>Exode 12:31<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 premi\u00e8re vue, il semble s&#039;agir d&#039;un moment de capitulation totale. Le roi, qui a r\u00e9sist\u00e9 avec tant d&#039;obstination, finit par laisser partir son peuple. Pourtant, \u00e0 y regarder de plus pr\u00e8s, une tension plus profonde se r\u00e9v\u00e8le\u00a0: Pharaon reconna\u00eet Dieu, mais ne croit pas v\u00e9ritablement en lui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Les fl\u00e9aux : bien plus qu&#039;une simple lib\u00e9ration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La Torah indique clairement que les merveilles d&#039;\u00c9gypte n&#039;avaient pas pour seul but la lib\u00e9ration d&#039;Isra\u00ebl. Elles servaient \u00e9galement un dessein universel\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201c Et l\u2019\u00c9gypte saura que je suis l\u2019\u00c9ternel. \u201d<\/strong><br>\u2014 <em>Exode 7:5<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ici, Hachem se r\u00e9v\u00e8le non seulement \u00e0 Isra\u00ebl, mais aussi \u00e0 l&#039;\u00c9gypte et \u00e0 Pharaon lui-m\u00eame. Les plaies ne sont pas des ch\u00e2timents arbitraires, mais des signes d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9s destin\u00e9s \u00e0 corriger des conceptions erron\u00e9es fondamentales sur Dieu et le monde. Cette id\u00e9e est explicitement formul\u00e9e par\u2026 <strong>Ramban (Nachmanide)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le pharaon demande une b\u00e9n\u00e9diction\u00a0: reconnaissance du pouvoir divin<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir ordonn\u00e9 au peuple de partir, Pharaon ajoute quelque chose de remarquable\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201c Prends aussi tes troupeaux et tes b\u00eates, comme tu l\u2019as dit, et va. Et b\u00e9nis-moi aussi. \u201d<\/strong><br>\u2014 <em>Exode 12:32<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La demande de b\u00e9n\u00e9diction du pharaon r\u00e9v\u00e8le une v\u00e9ritable reconnaissance du pouvoir de Dieu. <strong>Ibn Ezra<\/strong> note que Pharaon demande explicitement \u00e0 Mo\u00efse et \u00e0 Aaron de prier en sa faveur (Ibn Ezra sur Exode 12:32). <strong>Or HaChaim<\/strong> explique que Pharaon ne cherchait pas seulement \u00e0 mettre fin aux plaies, mais esp\u00e9rait la r\u00e9habilitation de l&#039;\u00c9gypte gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette b\u00e9n\u00e9diction (Or HaChaim sur Exode 12:32).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le <strong>Ramban<\/strong> Il souligne en outre que Pharaon consid\u00e9rait la pri\u00e8re comme efficace : lorsqu&#039;Isra\u00ebl priait Hashem pour sa propre protection, Pharaon souhaitait \u00eatre inclus dans ces pri\u00e8res (Ramban sur Exode 12:32). <strong>Rachi<\/strong> Un d\u00e9tail frappant s&#039;ajoute\u00a0: Pharaon lui-m\u00eame \u00e9tait un premier-n\u00e9 et craignait pour sa vie. Sa demande de b\u00e9n\u00e9diction \u00e9tait donc aussi une requ\u00eate profond\u00e9ment personnelle (Rachi sur Exode 12:32\u00a0; Mekhilta\u00a0; Targoum Jonathan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pharaon croyait donc qu&#039;Hashem pouvait b\u00e9nir, prot\u00e9ger et sauver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La foi avec une limite<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pourtant, cette foi se r\u00e9v\u00e8le incompl\u00e8te. Selon le <strong>Alshich<\/strong>, la permission de Pharaon n&#039;\u00e9tait pas une reconnaissance de libert\u00e9 permanente. Ses mots \u201c comme vous l&#039;avez dit \u201d font r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, explique Alshich, \u00e0 la demande initiale de ne voyager que trois jours dans le d\u00e9sert pour offrir des sacrifices \u2014 avec l&#039;espoir que le peuple reviendrait ensuite (Alshich sur Exode 12:31-32 ; <em>\u00c9dition Wechsler, Alshich sur la Torah<\/em>, vol. 1, p. 273).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pharaon reconna\u00eet Dieu, mais ne peut concevoir que l&#039;\u00c9ternel soit r\u00e9ellement capable de soustraire d\u00e9finitivement Isra\u00ebl \u00e0 la domination \u00e9gyptienne. Sa foi ne s&#039;\u00e9tend que sur le moment critique, et non sur une soumission totale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ainsi, Pharaon devient l&#039;arch\u00e9type de <strong>foi partielle<\/strong>: la reconnaissance du pouvoir divin associ\u00e9e \u00e0 une profonde r\u00e9ticence \u00e0 accepter la souverainet\u00e9 absolue de Dieu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Les merveilles de l&#039;\u00c9gypte comme r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 l&#039;incroyance fondamentale<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ici, le r\u00e9cit aborde un th\u00e8me bien plus profond. <strong>Ramban<\/strong> elle enseigne que les merveilles d&#039;\u00c9gypte n&#039;\u00e9taient pas de simples \u00e9v\u00e9nements historiques ou nationaux, mais servaient un but profond <strong>but th\u00e9ologique<\/strong>. Elles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ues pour corriger les erreurs les plus fondamentales dans la croyance humaine \u2014 des erreurs qui remontent \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9poque de <strong>\u00c9nosh<\/strong> et qui continuent de r\u00e9appara\u00eetre sous de nouvelles formes jusqu&#039;\u00e0 aujourd&#039;hui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au c\u0153ur de ces id\u00e9es se trouvent trois conceptions erron\u00e9es\u00a0: que le monde n\u2019a pas de Cr\u00e9ateur\u00a0; que Dieu a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le monde puis s\u2019en est retir\u00e9\u00a0; ou qu\u2019Il sait ce qui arrive mais n\u2019a pas le pouvoir d\u2019intervenir. Le Ramban d\u00e9crit ces id\u00e9es en termes classiques\u00a0; Rabbi <strong>Shmuel Reichman<\/strong> les articule dans un langage contemporain (<em>Le voyage vers votre moi ultime<\/em>, (pp. 144\u2013146). Essentiellement, ils abordent <strong>le m\u00eame probl\u00e8me sous-jacent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certains nient totalement l&#039;existence de Dieu. Ils affirment que, puisque Dieu est invisible, inaudible et intangible, le monde a n\u00e9cessairement toujours exist\u00e9 sans Cr\u00e9ateur. C&#039;est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment contre cette affirmation que se dressent les merveilles elles-m\u00eames\u00a0: des \u00e9v\u00e9nements qui transgressent les lois de la nature et d\u00e9montrent que le monde n&#039;est pas autonome, mais d\u00e9pendant d&#039;une Volont\u00e9 qui le transcende.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un second groupe reconna\u00eet l&#039;existence d&#039;un Cr\u00e9ateur, la complexit\u00e9 et la beaut\u00e9 de la cr\u00e9ation l&#039;exigeant, mais affirme que Dieu s&#039;est retir\u00e9 apr\u00e8s la cr\u00e9ation. Ce point de vue est souvent qualifi\u00e9 de <em>d\u00e9isme<\/em> ou la \u201c th\u00e9orie de l&#039;horloger \u201d, qui consid\u00e8re Dieu comme celui qui a mis le monde en mouvement puis l&#039;a laiss\u00e9 fonctionner \u00e0 son propre rythme. La souffrance, l&#039;injustice et le chaos sont alors per\u00e7us comme la preuve que Dieu n&#039;intervient pas activement. \u00c0 cet \u00e9gard, les plaies d&#039;\u00c9gypte prennent une r\u00e9sonance particuli\u00e8re : elles d\u00e9montrent que Hachem <strong>sait<\/strong> Elle analyse la situation, \u00e9tablit une distinction entre l&#039;\u00c9gypte et Isra\u00ebl et intervient au moment pr\u00e9cis o\u00f9 cela s&#039;av\u00e8re n\u00e9cessaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une troisi\u00e8me perspective admet l&#039;existence et la science de Dieu, mais remet en question sa puissance. Selon cette perspective, Dieu est trop exalt\u00e9, trop limit\u00e9, ou tout simplement incapable d&#039;intervenir de mani\u00e8re significative dans le monde. Cette notion est \u00e9galement r\u00e9fut\u00e9e par l&#039;Exode. Les plaies d\u00e9montrent non seulement la connaissance divine, mais aussi\u2026 <strong>pouvoir absolu<\/strong> sur la nature, le temps, la vie et la mort, et m\u00eame sur le roi le plus puissant de la terre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Ramban souligne que <strong>miracles annonc\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#039;avance<\/strong> Ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements rev\u00eatent une importance capitale. Ils prouvent non seulement l&#039;existence et la providence de Dieu, mais aussi la v\u00e9racit\u00e9 des proph\u00e9ties, \u00e9tablissant ainsi l&#039;origine divine de la Torah elle-m\u00eame. L&#039;Exode d&#039;\u00c9gypte n&#039;est donc pas un \u00e9v\u00e9nement historique ponctuel, mais une correction durable de l&#039;incr\u00e9dulit\u00e9 humaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cela explique aussi pourquoi le souvenir de l&#039;\u00c9gypte est r\u00e9current dans la Torah. Il constitue la r\u00e9ponse constante \u00e0 l&#039;affirmation selon laquelle Dieu est absent, indiff\u00e9rent ou impuissant, une affirmation qui continue de ressurgir sous des formes anciennes et modernes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Importance pour les Noachides<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour les Noachides, l&#039;histoire de l&#039;\u00c9gypte et de l&#039;Exode d&#039;Isra\u00ebl rev\u00eat une signification profonde et durable. Elle constitue un puissant antidote aux visions du monde qui r\u00e9duisent Dieu \u00e0 une abstraction morale, \u00e0 un architecte lointain ou \u00e0 un observateur passif, pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment parce qu&#039;elle s&#039;adresse non seulement \u00e0 l&#039;histoire juive, mais \u00e0 l&#039;histoire de l&#039;humanit\u00e9 tout enti\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le <strong>Rambam (Ma\u00efmonide)<\/strong> cela est explicitement indiqu\u00e9 dans <em>Mishneh Torah, Hilkhot Melachim 8:11<\/em>. Il statue que celui qui accepte et observe les Sept Lois noachiques n&#039;est compt\u00e9 parmi les justes des nations que s&#039;il le fait parce que Dieu les a ordonn\u00e9es et r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9es par Mo\u00efse. Celui qui les observe uniquement par raisonnement rationnel ou moral n&#039;en poss\u00e8de pas le fondement essentiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La foi en Dieu n&#039;est donc pas p\u00e9riph\u00e9rique, elle est centrale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pharaon croyait, mais sa foi avait ses limites. Il reconnaissait Hashem, recherchait sa b\u00e9n\u00e9diction et craignait son jugement, sans toutefois pouvoir concevoir que Dieu f\u00fbt v\u00e9ritablement omnipotent et capable de racheter d\u00e9finitivement son peuple.
