La paracha Matot s'ouvre sur les lois des v\u0153ux\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Si un homme fait un v\u0153u \u00e0 l'\u00c9ternel ou s'engage par serment, il ne manquera pas \u00e0 sa parole\u00a0; il agira conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 tout ce qu'il a prononc\u00e9.\u00a0\u201d Le r\u00f4le essentiel d'un v\u0153u est de permettre \u00e0 un individu de s'interdire de jouir de quelque chose qui lui est autrement permis. Cela soul\u00e8ve une question\u00a0: pourquoi quelqu'un choisirait-il de s'interdire ce que la Torah autorise et de se restreindre par un v\u0153u\u00a0?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lorsqu'une personne est domin\u00e9e par ses penchants mauvais et manque de ma\u00eetrise de soi pour dompter ses d\u00e9sirs, un v\u0153u devient un rempart spirituel. En pr\u00eatant serment, elle s'interdit formellement l'objet mat\u00e9riel m\u00eame auquel elle est asservie. Dans un tel \u00e9tat de faiblesse, non seulement elle est incapable d'\u00e9lever l'\u00e9tincelle cr\u00e9atrice, mais l'objet mat\u00e9riel lui-m\u00eame la tire vers le bas spirituellement. Ainsi, un v\u0153u constitue une d\u00e9fense essentielle contre la transgression. \u00c0 celui qui craint que les plaisirs mat\u00e9riels ne le conduisent \u00e0 des actes interdits, nos Sages ont enseign\u00e9 : \u201c Les v\u0153ux sont une barri\u00e8re d'abstinence \u201d, signifiant qu'il faut se d\u00e9tourner temporairement des d\u00e9sirs excessifs. N\u00e9anmoins, la ma\u00eetrise de soi est pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable aux v\u0153ux et aux serments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour les Enfants de No\u00e9, le commandement \u201c\u00a0il ne manquera pas \u00e0 sa parole\u00a0\u201d rev\u00eat une importance capitale. D\u00e9riv\u00e9 de l'interdiction du blasph\u00e8me, il encadre strictement les v\u0153ux et serments prononc\u00e9s au nom de Dieu afin d'\u00e9viter tout risque de blasph\u00e8me ou d'ajout aux Sept Lois. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

De plus, il est de notori\u00e9t\u00e9 publique qu'il est interdit \u00e0 un Noachide de pr\u00eater serment ou de faire un v\u0153u en vain (Mitzvot Hashem par Rabbi Yonatan Steif, p. 187 et p. 55). Les v\u0153ux prononc\u00e9s sous le coup de la col\u00e8re, \u00e0 la l\u00e9g\u00e8re ou sans intention sinc\u00e8re peuvent (et parfois doivent) \u00eatre annul\u00e9s par un tribunal noachide. En l'absence de tribunal, les Noachides peuvent annuler un v\u0153u en demandant \u00e0 un ami de le faire. Le roi Salomon a dit\u00a0: \u201c\u00a0Il vaut mieux ne pas faire de v\u0153u que d'en faire un et de ne pas le tenir\u00a0\u201d (Eccl\u00e9siaste 5:4-5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parfois, une personne ayant un niveau spirituel plus faible doit formuler des v\u0153ux pour ma\u00eetriser ses impulsions et se pr\u00e9munir contre les d\u00e9sirs terrestres. Les interdits habituels de la Torah suffisent dans la plupart des cas, mais certaines personnes ont besoin de protections suppl\u00e9mentaires, comme des v\u0153ux. Cependant, \u00e0 mesure qu'une personne s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve dans le service de Dieu et que la lumi\u00e8re de la saintet\u00e9 illumine son \u00e2me, sa relation au monde physique se transforme. Elle devient capable de purifier la mati\u00e8re et de l'\u00e9lever au rang de saintet\u00e9. \u00c0 ce stade avanc\u00e9, il ne lui est plus n\u00e9cessaire de se d\u00e9tacher des affaires du monde. Au contraire, elle doit agir au sein du monde pour le purifier et le sanctifier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les v\u0153ux ne sont jamais une fin en soi ; ils ne sont qu'une protection pour ceux qui traversent une p\u00e9riode de vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 sur leur chemin spirituel. Le v\u00e9ritable but est d'atteindre un sommet spirituel o\u00f9 de telles protections deviennent superflues, un niveau de d\u00e9votion totale \u00e0 Dieu o\u00f9 les d\u00e9sirs mat\u00e9riels n'ont plus d'emprise et o\u00f9 chaque interaction avec le monde mat\u00e9riel est uniquement motiv\u00e9e par la volont\u00e9 divine. Le meilleur moyen de transcender les d\u00e9sirs mat\u00e9riels excessifs est un profond \u00e9veil cognitif \u00e0 l'Unit\u00e9 de Dieu. En cultivant une conscience profonde de l'infinit\u00e9 de la Pr\u00e9sence et de la Puissance divines, qui impr\u00e8gnent les sph\u00e8res spirituelle et physique, notre regard sur le monde se transforme. L'\u00e2me reconna\u00eet alors que la vitalit\u00e9 des objets physiques n'est qu'une \u00e9tincelle divine cach\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
