Kesef Mishna on Hilchot Melachim 9:1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>We can infer from this that Adam HaRishon was not commanded regarding the prohibition of eating the limb of a live animal, i.e., only if it was not an animal, it was permitted to him as food\u2014and since Adam HaRishon was not permitted to eat meat at all, it was not necessary to command him regarding the prohibition of eating the limb of a live animal. &nbsp; And this is why the Rambam writes that Adam was only commanded six things, and that <em>eiver min ha\u2019chai<\/em> was a commandment given to Noah\u2014despite the fact that the Rabbis derive all seven mitzvot from a verse that includes a statement to Adam HaRishon himself. For, regarding the permissibility of the other trees, there is another verse that states, \u201cand G-d said, \u2018Behold, I have given you all of the seed-bearing plants upon all the earth, and all of the trees which have seed-bearing fruit shall be yours for eating.\u201d It should have said, \u201cyou shall not eat from the Tree of Knowledge\u201d. What is the purpose of the other verse? Noah was given the additional commandment, the prohibition of eating the limb of a live animal, as the verse states, \u201cnevertheless, flesh with its life, which is its blood, you shall not eat.\u201d (Genesis 9:4). Thus, there are seven mitzvot. And this is how it was throughout the world until Abraham. Abraham came, and was given the additional commandment of circumcision, and he instituted the morning prayer. And Isaac separated a tenth of his income, and instituted an additional prayer for the afternoon. And Jacob was given another commandment to not eat the sciatic nerve, and instituted the evening prayer. And in Egypt, Amram was given additional mitzvot.
