Bo (Esodo 10:1-13:16<\/a> )<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uno degli aspetti pi\u00f9 distintivi delle Dieci Piaghe fu il persistente rifiuto del Faraone di riconoscere il suo errore e di accettare che il Dio degli ebrei fosse davvero onnipotente. Miracolo dopo miracolo, non riusc\u00ec a convincerlo della veridicit\u00e0 delle affermazioni di Mos\u00e8 di essere il messaggero di Dio e non semplicemente un esperto stregone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante le prime cinque piaghe, si rifiut\u00f2 di liberare gli ebrei, pur essendo in pieno controllo del suo libero arbitrio. Nelle seconde cinque piaghe, avrebbe mandato gli ebrei fuori dall'Egitto se Dio non avesse indurito il suo cuore. Il Seforno spiega, tuttavia, che questo non significa che le piaghe abbiano spinto il faraone a pentirsi riconoscendo la grandezza di Dio. Piuttosto, la sua incapacit\u00e0 di sopportare altre piaghe sarebbe stata la causa del permesso agli ebrei di andarsene. Di conseguenza, l'indurimento del suo cuore da parte di Dio gli diede la forza di superare la sua naturale paura e di prendere una decisione "ragionata" e libera di continuare a rifiutare le richieste di Mos\u00e8.(1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'apparentemente sovrumana testardaggine del Faraone suscit\u00f2 grande stupore in Rav Aaron Bakst, Rosh Yeshiva di Lomza. Era solito tenere una lezione a casa sua ogni venerd\u00ec sera dopo cena. In un'occasione, i suoi studenti entrarono in casa e rimasero sorpresi nel vederlo camminare avanti e indietro nella sua stanza, chiedendosi: "Cosa stava pensando il Faraone quando vide questi grandi miracoli davanti ai suoi occhi?!". Improvvisamente, si ferm\u00f2, si rivolse agli studenti e spieg\u00f2: "Non ha pensato affatto! Solo per mancanza di riflessione si pu\u00f2 arrivare a ignorare miracoli cos\u00ec grandi senza permettere loro di influenzarlo minimamente!" (2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Questa spiegazione del comportamento illogico del Faraone getta una grande luce sul perch\u00e9 le persone non cambiano quando vivono grandi eventi. Possono persino riconoscere che si sono verificati miracoli, ma non pensano alle loro conseguenze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un esempio di ci\u00f2 fu la reazione della gente ai miracoli palesi della Guerra del Golfo, in cui 39 missili Scud riuscirono a uccidere una sola persona.(3) Molti riconobbero che la nazione aveva chiaramente assistito alla mano di Dio. Eppure, non agirono necessariamente in base alla loro nuova consapevolezza della Divina Provvidenza. Ci si potrebbe chiedere: cosa pensavano queste persone? Avevano chiaramente visto la mano di Dio nel proteggere il popolo ebraico, eppure non cambiarono. La risposta si trova nella spiegazione di Rav Bakst: non pensarono. Se qualcuno avesse riflettuto sinceramente su quegli eventi straordinari, sarebbe sicuramente cambiato in qualche modo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un'altra sorprendente illustrazione di questo fenomeno \u00e8 raccontata da Rav Dovid Kaplan. Rav Yehcehzkel Levensteil viaggiava in taxi con un autista non religioso. L'autista si rivolse a Rav Yechezkel e gli raccont\u00f2 la seguente straordinaria storia: diversi anni prima, stava viaggiando nella giungla africana con alcuni amici. Improvvisamente, un serpente attacc\u00f2 uno di loro, avvolgendolo con il suo grosso corpo e facendolo soffocare. Dopo sforzi concertati per salvarlo, si resero conto che non c'era speranza, cos\u00ec gli dissero di recitare lo Shem\u00e0 prima di lasciare il mondo. Lo recit\u00f2 rapidamente e immediatamente il serpente si srotol\u00f2 e se ne and\u00f2. Quest'uomo fu profondamente colpito da questo evento e gradualmente torn\u00f2 all'ebraismo, diventando ora un ebreo pienamente osservante. Dopo aver sentito come questo, seppur cos\u00ec drasticamente, avesse cambiato la vita dell'amico, Rav Levenstein si rivolse all'autista e gli chiese perch\u00e9 non fosse cambiato in seguito a questo miracolo. L'autista spieg\u00f2: "Oh no, non \u00e8 successo a me, \u00e8 successo a lui". (4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'autista vide un evento potenzialmente in grado di cambiargli la vita, ma non cambi\u00f2. Perch\u00e9? Perch\u00e9 non ci pens\u00f2, non lasci\u00f2 che le ovvie conseguenze di questo miracolo lo spingessero a riflettere sulla direzione da prendere nella sua vita. \u00c8 anche istruttivo notare che il suo amico, oggetto del miracolo, cambi\u00f2: a volte un evento pu\u00f2 essere cos\u00ec potente che una persona non pu\u00f2 fare a meno di pensarci e di lasciarsi influenzare dalla sua vita. Tuttavia, spesso non siamo noi stessi il soggetto del miracolo e quindi richiede uno sforzo molto pi\u00f9 consapevole costringerci a "pensare" alle ramificazioni degli eventi che vediamo e di cui sentiamo parlare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il primo passo per cambiare in base al mondo che ci circonda \u00e8 imparare la lezione del Faraone e "pensare", ovvero lasciare che gli eventi che accadono nel mondo in generale e che accadono nella nostra vita privata ci spingano a riflettere sulla nostra vita e ad apportare i cambiamenti necessari. Che tutti meritiamo di riflettere su ci\u00f2 che accade intorno a noi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
