Bereishit (Genesi 1:1-6:8<\/a> )<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La Torah parla della creazione del Sole e della Luna: \u201cE Dio fece i due grandi luminari, il luminare maggiore per dominare il giorno e il luminare minore per dominare la notte\u2026\u201d1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Torah si riferisce sia al Sole che alla Luna come "grandi luminari", ma poi afferma subito che il Sole era il pi\u00f9 grande dei due. Il Talmud2<\/sup> spiega: In origine, il Sole e la Luna furono creati di uguali dimensioni, ma la Luna si lament\u00f2 con Dio dicendo che non era possibile che due Re usassero la stessa corona, il che significava che non avrebbero dovuto essere totalmente uguali in dimensioni.3<\/sup> L'implicazione dell'argomentazione della Luna era che dovesse essere la stella pi\u00f9 grande. Dio acconsent\u00ec all'argomentazione della Luna, ma ordin\u00f2 alla Luna stessa di rimpicciolirsi, mentre il Sole manteneva le sue dimensioni originali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si tratta ovviamente di un profondo insegnamento rabbinico e pu\u00f2 essere interpretato in molti modi.4<\/sup> Il Daat Zekeinim MiBaalei HaTosefos ha una comprensione affascinante di questo brano del Talmud e lo collega a un altro brano del Talmud apparentemente del tutto estraneo: il Talmud in Yoma discute l'ammirevole qualit\u00e0 di una persona che viene insultata o a cui si parla in modo sgradevole, e tuttavia rimane in silenzio: "Riguardo a colui che viene insultato e non ricambia l'insulto (hane'elavin v'eino olvin<\/em>), che ascoltano la loro degradazione e non rispondono, di loro il versetto5<\/sup> dice: "E coloro che Lo amano sono paragonabili al tramonto del Sole nella sua forza".6<\/sup> Il Talmud afferma che una persona che non risponde alla propria degradazione aumenter\u00e0 sempre di pi\u00f9, proprio come il Sole quando splende luminoso nel pieno del giorno.7<\/sup> Tuttavia, il Daat Zekeinim vede un ulteriore aspetto nel paragone con il Sole. Spiega che il Talmud paragona una persona del genere al Sole perch\u00e9 anche il Sole ha affrontato la degradazione ed \u00e8 rimasto in silenzio, poich\u00e9 non vediamo che il Sole abbia risposto all'argomentazione della Luna. Come ricompensa per il suo silenzio, il Sole \u00e8 diventato il luminare pi\u00f9 grande.8<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un'ovvia domanda sorge spontanea riguardo al paragone tra la storia del Sole e della Luna e la grandezza di chi non risponde agli insulti. Non vediamo da nessuna parte che la Luna abbia insultato il Sole. Piuttosto, la Luna ha semplicemente avanzato una valida argomentazione secondo cui non dovrebbero esserci due luminari ugualmente grandi: non c'era alcun urlo, insulto o degradazione nelle parole della Luna. Piuttosto, la Luna stava insinuando che il Sole dovesse essere rimpicciolito e la Luna dovesse rimanere nelle sue dimensioni originali, ma questo non costituisce un insulto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deve essere che il Daat Zekeinim<\/em> \u00c8 chiaro che quando qualcuno cerca di sminuire, indebolire o ridurre in qualche modo il proprio status a un altro, anche questo rientra nella categoria degli insulti e della degradazione. Di conseguenza, se la "vittima" di questo tentativo di sminuirlo o indebolirlo rimane in silenzio e non si difende, allora rientra anche nella categoria elevata di chi non risponde alla sua degradazione e riceve una ricompensa incredibile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sembra che un'estensione di questa caratteristica di non rispondere ai tentativi di sminuire una persona sia che quando una persona sembra essere trattata o vista in un modo che non \u00e8 in linea con il suo vero status, rimane in silenzio e si lascia sottilmente sminuire anche se non \u00e8 intenzione deliberata dell'altra persona sminuirla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ogni persona incontra situazioni nella propria vita in cui pu\u00f2 sentirsi sminuita o indebolita. Eppure impariamo dall' Daat Zekeinim's<\/em> spiegazione del racconto della creazione del Sole e della Luna, secondo cui rimanere in silenzio pu\u00f2 consentire di raggiungere il livello elevato di chi non reagisce alla degradazione. E anche se non si batte per il proprio onore percepito, si pu\u00f2 forse meritare una descrizione simile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
