Waarom moet Mozes het volk in de volgende verzen waarschuwen om dit niet te doen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volgens de Alshich HaKadosh moet dit vers in twee delen worden opgevat. &#039;Hout en steen&#039; verwijzen naar de afschuwelijke afgoden; maar &#039;zilver en goud&#039; verwijzen naar de <a><\/a>Mensen die die afgoden aanbidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p>Natuurlijk zouden zielige afgoden van hout en steen geen enkele aantrekkingskracht uitoefenen. Maar de Isra\u00eblieten zouden wel &quot;het zilver en goud dat zij bezitten&quot; opmerken \u2013 de rijkdom en voorspoed van de afgodendienaars. Hier zou de kwade neiging het volk kunnen verleiden te denken dat de rijkdom van deze mensen voortkwam uit hun afgoderij.
