However, this comparison overlooks the fact that Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and resurrected on Easter Sunday, leading to deception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Matthew 12:38-40 (KJV), we read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale&#8217;s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the &#8220;proof&#8221; that Jesus himself provides to the people that he is the Messiah, namely, that he would be in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a child, I remember not understanding this comparison. But then hearing from adults that you had to be an adult to understand it. Now that I am an adult, I can only conclude that a child who can count to 10 has more wisdom than adults who cannot count to 3 because they are blinded by old traditions indoctrinated by the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The church teaches that Jesus died on &#8220;Good Friday&#8221; and rose on Sunday. But when we simply count, we cannot reach 3 days and 3 nights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Good Friday \u2013 the first day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The night from Friday to Saturday \u2013 the first night<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saturday \u2013 the second day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The night from Saturday to Sunday \u2013 the second night<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday morning \u2013 the morning of the resurrection, at least according to the story of Matthew.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because if we look at John&#8217;s story, the tomb is already empty on Sunday morning, and we cannot even count the second night. It is remarkable that Jesus uses this example of the story of Jonah to show that he is the Messiah, because precisely the story of Jonah teaches us that humans do not need a blood sacrifice \u2013 in any form \u2013 to receive forgiveness of sins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After all, we read that when Jonah tells Nineveh that G-d will punish them for their sinful behavior, the people are forgiven without a blood sacrifice but by repenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join me in reading <a href=\"https:\/\/mechon-mamre.org\/p\/pt\/pt1703.htm\">Jonah 3:5-10.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chabad.org\/library\/bible_cdo\/aid\/16185#v5\"><strong><br><\/strong><\/a><strong>5<\/strong>&nbsp;And the people of Nineveh believed G-d; But we should not place our hope in intermediaries, sons of men, as we can read in <a href=\"https:\/\/mechon-mamre.org\/p\/pt\/pt26e6.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Psalm 146:3.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chabad.org\/library\/bible_cdo\/aid\/16367#v3\"><strong><br><\/strong><\/a><strong>3<\/strong>&nbsp;Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.<\/td><td>&nbsp;<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">\u05d0\u05b7\u05dc\u05be\u05ea\u05b4\u05bc\u05d1\u05b0\u05d8\u05b0\u05d7\u05a5\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05b4\u05e0\u05b0\u05d3\u05b4\u05d9\u05d1\u05b4\u0591\u05d9\u05dd \u05d1\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05b6\u05df\u05be\u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u0593\u05dd | \u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u059a\u05d0\u05b5\u0596\u05d9\u05df \u05dc\u05a5\u05d5\u05b9 \u05ea\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05bd\u05d4<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>But we lift our eyes to G-d, and like the people of Nineveh, we confess our sins to Him. They did not need a blood sacrifice, we do not need a blood sacrifice. In fact, at the dedication of the Temple by King Solomon, an alternative was already given to forgive the sins of the people if the sacrifices could no longer be made.
