We leren daar dat dit offer alleen werd gebracht voor onopzettelijke overtredingen. (Bijvoorbeeld iemand die op de sabbat kookte, maar zich niet realiseerde dat dit verboden is).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rabbi Yitzchak Arama legde uit dat opzettelijke zonde zowel ons lichaam als onze geest\/ziel betreft. Bij onopzettelijke zonde is echter alleen het lichaam betrokken, omdat er geen bewuste intentie tot zonde was. Daarom, zo legt hij uit, is een fysieke zonde niet direct een bedreiging. <a><\/a>Een offer kon een onopzettelijke zonde goedmaken, omdat alleen het lichaam bij de overtreding betrokken was.
