De priester zal verzoening voor hem doen \u2013 voor de fout die hij onopzettelijk en onbewust heeft begaan, en hij zal vergeven worden.\u201d (Leviticus 5:18)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit offer wordt de &quot;ashem talui&quot; (schuldoffer bij twijfel) genoemd en wordt gebracht wanneer iemand niet zeker weet of hij of zij daadwerkelijk een verbod heeft overtreden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De Kotzker Rebbe vroeg naar dit offer. In de <a><\/a>In een geval waarin iemand zeker een zonde beging, was het offer slechts een geit (Leviticus 4:28). Maar hier is de persoon er niet eens zeker van dat hij een zonde heeft begaan \u2013 waarom brengt hij dan een ram, een veel duurder dier?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De Kotzker suggereerde dat juist omdat er sprake is van twijfel, een duurder dier nodig is. Wanneer iemand weet dat hij een zonde heeft begaan, veroorzaakt deze wetenschap ongemak en spijt over zijn misdaad. Deze pijn zelf zal dienen als gedeeltelijke verzoening voor zijn zonde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maar wanneer iemand niet zeker weet of hij gezondigd heeft, duidt dit op een gebrek aan aandacht voor zijn gedrag.
