Het verbod op afgoderij in de Zeven Noachide Wetten is intrinsiek verbonden met Jeremia 1:5. Beide benadrukken het belang van het aanbidden van G-d en het verwerpen van valse goden. Het vers zegt: \"Voordat Ik je in de baarmoeder vormde, kende Ik je, voordat je geboren werd, heb Ik je apart gezet; Ik heb je aangesteld als profeet voor de volken.\" Dit vers leert dat G-d Jeremia al kende voordat hij geboren werd en een specifieke missie voor hem had. Op dezelfde manier suggereren de Zeven Noachide Wetten een goddelijk plan en doel voor ieder mens. Jeremia's missie was universeel; hij moest G-ds boodschap aan alle naties overbrengen en oproepen tot het aanbidden van G-d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jeremia's universele missie als profeet voor de naties zorgt ervoor dat individuen een directe en oprechte relatie met G-d Zelf onderhouden, vrij van de vervormingen en leugens van afgoderij. Als profeet waarschuwde Jeremia vaak tegen afgoderij en riep hij mensen op om af te zien van valse goden en terug te keren naar de aanbidding van G-d. Zijn missie was om de naties te leiden; de Noachide Wetten komen overeen met de leerstellingen van Jeremia. Beide proberen afgoderij uit te roeien en de aanbidding van G-d te bevorderen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Net zoals Jeremia was aangesteld om een profeet voor alle naties te zijn, zijn de Zeven Noachide Wetten bedoeld voor de hele mensheid. Beide weerspiegelen een universele verantwoordelijkheid die op ieder mens rust en een goddelijke verwachting voor moreel gedrag onder alle mensen. Jeremia's rol als profeet was om mensen naar gerechtigheid te leiden. De Zeven Noachide Wetten dienen een vergelijkbare functie, door niet-joden te voorzien van een set goddelijke richtlijnen. Het naleven van de Zeven Noachide Wetten is een manier voor niet-joden om hun leven te heiligen en zich af te stemmen op de goddelijke wil.
