Wat betekent deze feestdag dan voor de Noachieten?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bnei Noah erkent dat bekering een fundamenteel gebod is voor Joden, maar voor niet-Joden is het meer een morele verplichting die voortvloeit uit het eerste gebod om in God te geloven. Het verhaal van Jona (Jona 3) illustreert dat niet alleen Joden, maar ook niet-Joden zich oprecht moeten bekeren, zoals te zien is toen de inwoners van Nineve zich bekeerden na Jona&#039;s waarschuwing. De Torah beschrijft (Genesis 4:7) Gods instructie aan Ka\u00efn nadat hij Hevel had vermoord; de erkenning van misdaad en de noodzaak tot verandering zijn universeel toepasbaar voor de hele mensheid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het afzweren van afgoderij en het geloof in God is het eerste gebod voor de nakomelingen van Noach. Geloof in God betekent overtredingen erkennen en ernaar streven om misstappen goed te maken, wat het belang van zelfreflectie en zelfverbetering benadrukt. Over het algemeen is bekering, in de zin van terugkeer tot God en aanvaarding van het juk van de hemel, van toepassing op de hele mensheid. Voor niet-Joden is het een verplichting die voortvloeit uit het eerste gebod om in God te geloven en Hem te dienen. Als iemand het bevel van de koning negeerde en zondigde, moest hij dit herstellen door zich te bekeren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosj Hasjana markeert de verjaardag van de schepping van de wereld en de mensheid, een waarlijk goddelijk geschenk van leven en de kans om te groeien en onszelf te verbeteren. Terugkeren tot God (tesjoeva) tijdens Rosj Hasjana kan inderdaad met vreugde gebeuren. Hoewel het proces van zelfreflectie en berouw soms gevoelens van verdriet over daden uit het verleden kan oproepen, is Rosj Hasjana uiteindelijk een gebeurtenis van vernieuwing en de kans op een nieuwe start. De hernieuwde verbinding met God en de bevestiging van iemands voornemen om zichzelf te verbeteren en een nauwere relatie met God op te bouwen door goede daden, kan ons vervullen met dankbaarheid voor de kans die ons is gegeven.
