Mozes stuurde hen eropuit om het land te ontdekken, met een positief doel: hij wilde dat het volk hun verstand zou gebruiken om plannen te maken voor de vestiging in het land, waardoor ze enthousiast zouden worden over de reis die voor hen lag. Het gebruiken van ons intellect om praktische en effici\u00ebnte methoden te vinden om rechtvaardigheid, vriendelijkheid en eerlijkheid in ons dagelijks leven te verspreiden, is precies wat God van ons verlangt. De vraag rijst dan ook: de spionnen gebruikten hun eigen verstand om het land Isra\u00ebl te begrijpen, waarom werden ze dan gestraft?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mozes vroeg hen informatie te verzamelen over het land en zijn inwoners. Hij vroeg hen niet te bepalen of Gods belofte vervuld kon worden. In plaats daarvan gebruikten de spionnen hun verstand om hun missie volledig te veranderen. Ze concludeerden ten onrechte dat het land niet veroverd en bewoond kon worden! Ze keken naar de versterkte steden en de reuzen die het land bewoonden, en door hun menselijke logica concludeerden ze: &quot;We kunnen het land niet binnengaan.&quot; Ze gingen veel verder dan de reikwijdte van hun missie. Ze gebruikten hun verstand niet om Gods wil uit te voeren, maar om die te betwisten. De spionnen werden niet gestraft voor het gebruik van hun verstand. Ze werden gestraft omdat ze hun subjectieve aannames lieten prevaleren boven de goddelijke missie die hun was opgedragen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dit principe geldt voor alle goddelijke geboden. Voor niet-Joden vindt het praktische uitdrukking in de Zeven Noachitische Wetten. Wanneer we uitsluitend op de menselijke rede vertrouwen, lopen we een groot psychologisch gevaar. De menselijke geest buigt zich gemakkelijk om ons comfort, onze sociale status of onze fysieke verlangens te dienen. De Schepper verwacht niet dat mensen Hem blindelings dienen. Hij heeft ons een verfijnd intellect geschonken. Wanneer we begrijpen waarom we een goede daad verrichten, wanneer we de innerlijke logica van de Zeven Noachitische Wetten doorgronden, vervullen we onze goddelijke missie vanzelfsprekend met veel meer enthousiasme, vreugde en passie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoe beschermen we onszelf tegen de valstrikken van de spionnen? Het antwoord ligt in onze instelling. We moeten bedenken dat we ons menselijk verstand alleen gebruiken omdat God dat van ons wil. De zeven goddelijke Noachitische wetten zijn niet afhankelijk van of het menselijk verstand ze handig of logisch vindt. Ze zijn bindend omdat ze een manifestatie zijn van de goddelijke wil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De keuze is: zoeken we naar de beste manier om Gods wil uit te voeren? Of gebruiken we ons verstand als spionnen om een slim excuus te vinden om eraan te ontkomen? Door ons intellect te richten op de absolute goddelijke waarheid in plaats van op subjectieve menselijke agenda&#039;s, zorgen we ervoor dat we handelen volgens Gods wil.
