Chassidic Discourse
“And it was when Pharaoh sent out the people…” (Exodus 13:17) 1987
● Descent for the purpose of greater ascent
– Pharaoh unholy (deKlipa): “I don’t know Hashem”.
– Pharaoh holy (deKedusha): “All the lights are revealed”.
– Through working on ourselves, we “reveal” our own essence, soul.
– Since we are commanded this work, it should be done with joy.
● Joy (Simcha)
– The land of Phillistines – Mavo MEFULASH – an open passage
● * Mockery, frivolity, joking
● * Infinite joy: unholy or holy
● * The help of G-d was not to lead us through the land of Philistines when we left Egypt.
● * This infinite holy joy is related to Mashiach times. Like the Rambam writes: “there will be peace in the simple sense—no war, no jealousy, and no rivalry— while the entire world will be engaged in knowing G-d”
● Knowledge of G-d
– Jews – sovev col almin (How G-d transcends the world)
– Non-Jews – memale col almin (How G-d fills the world)
– Since the truth of the world is His existence, anyone can attain knowledge of G-d.
