By keeping the apointed mitzvot, working on ourselves and joyful acts of giving, we bring about true Happiness, the more we come to know about Hashem digesting the Torah, the more our will becomes alike that of Hashem and we find ourselves serving him, not as an obligation from Hashem, but as an urge from our whole essence that came from a deed of Chessed/kindness, creation of the world is a gift from Hashem, só in his likeness we are made to give, that’s why true happiness is not found in the pursue of pleasing ourselves.
The Baal Shem Tov said:
There is no room for G-d in the man who is filled with himself.
