Develop yourself to the best of your ability
Rabbi Hama son of Rabbi Hanina said: “What does the text mean: “Walk after the Enternal your G-d”? It means to walk after the attributes of the Holy One of Blessing.
Just as G-d clothes the naked, so should you clothe the naked, as it is written; “And the Eternal G-d made garments of skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them”. (Genesis 3:21)
Just as the Holy One of Blessing visited the sick, so should you also visit the sick, as it is written: “And the Eternal appeared to him by the terebints of Mamre [after Abraham’s circumcision] (Genesis 18:1).
Just as the Holy One of Blessing comforted mourners, so should you also comfort mourners, as it is written: “After the death of Abraham, G-d blessed his son Isaac”. (Genesis 25:11)
Just as the Holy One of Blessing buried the dead, so should you also bury the dead, as it is writtten: “G-d buried him [Moses] in the valley”. (Deuteronomy 34:6).
In the prayer book “The Order” we find the following morningprayer, with personal additional thoughts.
Blessed art Thou, L-rd our G-d, King of the Universe, Who giveth sight to the blind.
If you’re not an optician or an ophthalmologist, that might be a little tricky. But how many people are not sighted blind, and whom we may show and teach the 7 Noahid life wisdom, so that hopefully their eyes will open.
Blessed art Thou, L-rd, our G-d, King of the Universe, Who loosens bondage.
Many people are bound by old thoughts and patterns, show them alternatives, show them where their old religious thoughts go wrong.
Blessed are You, L-rd, our G-d, King of the universe, Who has provided for me in all my needs.
We cannot provide for all people’s needs, but as the words of the Talmud say, if we put a little effort into it, we can go a long way.
Blessed are You, L-rd, our G-d, King of the Universe, who strengthens man’s footsteps.
I believe that if we put our feet in the direction of others to help them, the Eternal One will strengthen us and help us in the process.
