Rav Meir Shapiro once asked someone for a donation to support his Yeshivah. “I will – but only on the condition that you give me your share in the World to Come.”
“You’ve got a deal,” said the Rav. “I’ll give you my entire share in the World to Come except for one small part.”
The man wanted to know what part that was. Rav Shapiro looked him in the eye and said, “The part that I’ll receive for giving away my portion in the World to Come in order to raise money for the Yeshiva.”
