A Coin as a Yud

27 Sivan 5783 – 16 June 2023

When a person gives a coin to someone in need, they unify G-d’s Holy Name.

The small coin represents the small letter Yud, which is the first letter of The Name. The five fingers of the giver’s hand is the letter Hay (since the numerical value of this letter is five).

The outstretched arm of the giver resembles the shape of the letter Vav. The final Hay of G-d’s Name is the hand of the poor person receiving the coin.
